They don't call me "Martha" for nothin'

Our spice cabinet has long been a source of frustration to me. I often buy spices in bulk (WAY cheaper!) and then I have a bunch of baggies laying (lying?) around the spice cabinet and it takes me 20 minutes to find the chili powder. Or oregano. Or cumin. Or cinnamon. Or paprika. You get the point. I've tried "organizing" it before, but it always ends up the same way - a mess full of baggies. So, I finally bit the bullet and purchased spice jars. My wonderful husband bought me a label maker for Valentine's day (that's what happens when you become an old married couple - you buy eachother very practical gifts. And, I couldn't have been more thrilled about the label maker.) and so I used that to label my spice jars. I am so happy with the end result. I need some more jars and I think I might end up getting different "holders" for the jars...but these will do for now. What do you think??? (Oh, and they're alphabetized too. Woohoo!)

Can you please come organize mine? Mine are not in neat jars, just the little variety they were purchased in, and they always fall out on my head when I go to use them!! Maybe I should get to work on getting them organized or something!! LOL!!

Oh, it looks great! Isn't it nice when you have had one corner of your home a total mess and then you work out some awesome way of organising it?! Then it gives you a buzz every time you look at it. My disorganised and assorted kids clothing drove me mad until I got those archive boxes: http://friendlyblackandwhitedog.blogspot.com/2008/03/very-good-feeling.html

Go Martha!

Steph I realise I never told you how I found your blog, and perhaps you're wondering why this freaky Aussie keeps reading you and commenting!

Well, last October I started blogging to just put down my thoughts on parenting and stuff, and in particular I really needed to externalise my stress over the silly dog.

Then I started wondering if there were any other Mums out there just blogging about life (at that time, I had no idea there were thousnads and thousands of us!) so I just picked random blogs on blogspot.

There was a heap of trash and also some rude stuff, but then I found you! It seemed that Jack and Nat are similar ages, and it sounded like you and I would enjoy getting together for a cuppa and a chat if we didn't live on opposite sides of the words, and so I started reading you more regularly.

Then I followed MommasTantrum from one of her comments on your blog, and I've loved reading her thoughts too! My two blogging buddies.

Thanks for sharing a bit of your life: it helps us Mums know that we're not alone. As long as we have internet access we've got friends all over the world.

Hope your weather it getting warmer - ours is getting cooler and we're wearing warmer clothes each day now.

Kate.

Woohoo! Organizing spices makes me so happy! I used to have those same spice jars from IKEA, too. : ) I kept them in an IKEA rack, 2 shelves with glass sliding doors, if you're looking for a storage system.

Good job!
