We were looking through some old pictures with Jack. He's really been enjoying this lately. So, we were showing him pictures of a (very) pregnant mommy and Lonnie asked him, "Who's in mommy's tummy?" His answer?
"Candy."

Mr. Manipulative
Jack hasn't napped for over 2 weeks now. I was at the point on Monday where I would have done almost anything to get him to take a nap. So, I laid down with him in his bed. I knew, in the back of my head, that this wouldn't work - but I still wanted to give it a try. So, we're laying there and Jack is trying to play with me instead of lay down and close his eyes.
Then.....
He puts his hand on my cheek, looks in my eyes, and says.....
"You're Pretty."

They don't call me "Martha" for nothin'
Our spice cabinet has long been a source of frustration to me. I often buy spices in bulk (WAY cheaper!) and then I have a bunch of baggies laying (lying?) around the spice cabinet and it takes me 20 minutes to find the chili powder. Or oregano. Or cumin. Or cinnamon. Or paprika. You get the point. I've tried "organizing" it before, but it always ends up the same way - a mess full of baggies. So, I finally bit the bullet and purchased spice jars. My wonderful husband bought me a label maker for Valentine's day (that's what happens when you become an old married couple - you buy eachother very practical gifts. And, I couldn't have been more thrilled about the label maker.) and so I used that to label my spice jars. I am so happy with the end result. I need some more jars and I think I might end up getting different "holders" for the jars...but these will do for now. What do you think??? (Oh, and they're alphabetized too. Woohoo!)

Did I miss something?
So, we have a box of Trix sitting in the pantry. I decide to have some this morning. (Uh, because the marshmallows in the Lucky Charms are stale...why else?) I look at the box and notice that something looks different. I look inside. Yes, they look different.
Since when did they make Trix into circles? Didn't they used to be shaped like the fruit they were supposed to artificially taste like? Or am I dreaming? (Truth be told, I wasn't allowed to have cereal like this when I was a kid, so it is entirely possible that I could be thinking of something else altogether. And, that is also the reason why I feel the need to eat this garbage as an adult. I am making up for lost time.) Needless to say, I was a little disappointed and my morning wasn't as wonderful as it could have been.
On to more important news....I had to take Jack back to the pediatrician. AGAIN. The Amoxicillin wasn't doing its job, so they switched him to a new antibiotic. It had better work. The poor boy cried for an hour straight after he woke up from his nap...which is why I made the appointment. It's unlike him to CRY for that long. Scream, maybe. Cry, no. My heart was just breaking for him. But, in true toddler fashion, he stopped crying as soon as he saw the doctor and was all smiles for the rest of the afternoon.
